FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Q-Why should I use Florida Jitney?
Answer: The Florida Jitney emphasizes its unique brand of luxury transportation. So if you want luxury transportation at affordable prices, using The Florida Jitney makes sense. In addition, we have an excellent safety record, are reliable and allow you to travel at a fraction of the cost of a taxi or sedan service. And if you are going to the airport, why pay all that money in the exorbitant parking fees!
Q-What are your fares?
Answer: Unlike other companies, we spell it all out for you with no hidden catches. If you look around the internet, most companies don't even post their fees online. They'd prefer to haggle with you on the phone and usually up-charge you. We are proud of the service we offer and stand by our value fares. Also we respect the time of our guests and in doing so, we try to keep the whole process short and sweet. Click here and you will go to the fares section.
Q-Are their any hidden fees?
Answer: The fare that appears on your credit card is exactly the fare that appears on the FARES page. The current struggle we all face with regard to gas prices is an ongoing concern. We are committed to providing our guests with the best service possible and the lowest fare that can be managed.
Q-What if the Jitney is late and I miss my connection?
Answer: It is our mission to provide you with the finest service and to perform to the best of our ability. Sometimes, things happen. It may be due to the weather or traffic, highway construction or equipment malfunction, even though our fleet is entirely brand new! Yet these may be issues beyond our control. So while our reputation and safety records are on the line with each and every trip, we will serve you to the best of our ability.
Q-What if I miss my scheduled Jitney departure?
Answer: We do our best to maintain our schedule. Sometimes we may be a few minutes late, depending on traffic conditions. We almost never leave early, unless all guests have been accounted for, but require you to be at the scheduled stop at least ten minutes before the scheduled departure, so that we can load your baggage and get settled in.
Q-Can we walk up and board at any of your station locations?
Answer: The Florida Jitney is very popular. And we are freaks about providing great service for our guests. Therefore we always say that reservations are absolutely necessary! We don't want to turn anyone away on a cold, rainy night and that could happen as the DOT has limits on occupancy. And since reservations are necessary, we do everything we can to make it easy for you, including a toll-free number that is good anywhere in the USA. You won't forget it. Call 1-877-FL-JITNEY. That is, 1-877-355-4863. Give us a call! We are looking forward to hearing from you!

Answer: If you have never been to the Orlando Airport, you will be impressed by what a beautiful and convenient facility it is. They handle over 36 million visitors a year in an airport that was constructed to handle no more than 20 million. Due to the volume of passengers, the airport security policies and their regulations, we are strictly prohibited from picking up any passenger that does not have a reservation. We at the Florida Jitney don't want to turn you away but these are the rules! If you don't board our Jitney, you may find that traveling via some other sedan service may cost you over $225 for the same trip. So whatever you can do, be sure to make that call to us on your cell phone prior to your trip!

Answer: All passengers must have their own seat and as seats are often at a premium, full fares are required. Car seats are available free of charge and all you have to do is let us know that you need to reserve one! Q-Can children travel unescorted on the Florida Jitney?
Answer: The Florida Jitney is probably the safest form of travel for both the most senior and the most "junior" among us. Often teenagers want to take the Jitney into Gainesville or Orlando to catch an event, go to one of the attractions or go to the mall. Children thirteen through fifteen will be allowed to travel unescorted and unaccompanied if they provide a written consent from a parent or guardian. A parental consent form can be downloaded here and it must accompany a copy of the parent or guardians drivers license for our files. We take the welfare of all of our travelers as an extremely serious endeavor and therefore, no exceptions can be made in this policy and apologize for any hardship it may cause.
Q-Does the Florida Jitney have wheelchair accessible shuttles?
Answer: It is our desire to do everything we can to assist our less ambulatory guests. However not every Jitney has this expensive capability so we ask you to reserve one week in advance. This service is based on availability and we plan in time to equip every Jitney in our fleet with this technology and be ADA-compliant. Also, for our guests who are ambulatory and have a range of mobility that enables them to board the Jitney independently, we are always happy to stow folding wheelchairs and transfer chairs in the baggage compartment.
Q- What is the policy towards cell phones on the Florida Jitney?
Answer: We know the vast majority of travelers today have cell phones with them. Sometimes, calls are necessary when in transit. We request ALL GUESTS limit their calls to five minutes per call and no more than three calls per trip. As hard as it is to believe the person sitting directly in front of you whose ear you are screaming into, may not find your conversation interesting. "Cell Yell" happens but we ask you to be mindful of this. Also, know that our attendant will politely instruct guests who are non-compliant with this policy to end their call. We regret having to enforce this policy, it is for the comfort of all guests that we find ourselves placed in the position to take a stand on this. Remember your cell phone etiquette: short is sweet and keep the volume to a minimum.
Q-Is alcohol allowed on the Florida Jitney?
Answer: No, alcohol is not allowed to be brought on board the Jitney. Any of our guests discovered consuming alcohol will be immediately removed from the Jitney at the nearest stop and in doing so, the Florida Jitney will bear no responsibility for a passengers unanticipated travel expenses. However, the Florida Jitney does serve complimentary beverages ranging from bottled water, to a selection of juices and sodas. Jitneys with proper Galleys also offer freshly brewed coffees and teas.
Q-How about food on board the Jitney?
Answer: All we have to say on this is "mangia!" You're on board attendant will be passing out complimentary snacks, ranging from pretzels, chips and cookies. In the morning, muffins and pastries will be offered. At most of our Station Locations, our guests will have a restaurant or convenience store to purchase additional food items. Bring them on board and enjoy! We only ask that you try to be neat and not leave a mess behind for the next guest that comes. And for everyone's benefit we ask that pungent foods not be consumed on board. It can make for a long trip when the coach stinks of garlic, anchovies, cheeses as well as more "exotic" spices.
Also, in the very near future we will begin offering a menu of lighter fare whereby guests can reserve a meal at the time they make their reservation.
Q-Can guests smoke on board the Jitney?
Answer: HA! Sorry, we thought this question was a joke. Smoking is NOT allowed on board the Jitneys. We do make regular stops ranging from one to five minutes and guests are invited to step off the coach to light up. That however, is not an invitation to wander off and be left behind. It is the smokers responsibility to get back on board the Jitney prior the departing. We know it goes without saying, but the guys in Legal require us to say any smokers left behind will travel at their own expense.
Q-Are there restrooms on board the Florida Jitney?
Answer: Most of our Jitneys are small coaches seating 8-15 guests. Being smaller vehicles, most Jitneys will not be equipped with restrooms on board. However, we have designated restroom breaks every 30 minutes or so and will be happy to stop sooner if any guest should make the request to the attendant or driver. We have scoped out the cleanest restrooms along our routes for your convenience.
Q-Are there any other amenities on board?
Answer: You better sit down for this. We are leading the nation with creature comforts in the motor coach industry. We have installed Satellite Internet so all of our guests can use their laptops right from their seats. This turns the trip into productive work time! Check your email, write a report, surf the net.
