The beginning of The Florida Jitney. The genesis of The Florida Jitney occurred more than twenty years ago. The Scottish-American entrepreneur and founder, Timothy McLennan, had worked and lived in Europe and found the joys of traveling on luxurious buses to be an aspect of ground transport sorely lacking in the United States. From London, Berlin, Zurich and Rome, Mr. McLennan has invested the initial seed money on the premise that American's want more and want "better".
Fast forward to the new millennium in the United States and still no widespread luxury ground transit system exists. With the launching of "The Central Florida Express," the Florida Jitney takes its first step in creating a state-wide Jitney system, emphasizing high style, high tech and low fares. The Florida Jitney has decided to build a transportation system that offers all of its guests unparalleled luxury, convenience and affordability. McLennan has invested more than $250,000 in initial seed money on the premise that American's want more and want better. "If our guests receive 'more' and 'better,' they will be willing to give Ground Transportation a try, McLennan believes. The one thing Americans won't put up with is doing with "less." We all want to enjoy the "good life" and the Florida Jitney staff makes pampering its guests a top priority. If American's were willing to put up with less, the one major nationwide bus company wouldn't have a reputation in shambles. McLennan blames their standards for single-handedly destroying the reputation of bus service in the United States. "As a result, I try to avoid using "the B-word" referring to bus, as much as possible," McLennan says. After all, how often do you come across a family or a colleague eager to spend their yearly vacation on board Greyhound?
According to Sean Keys of Fleet Operations, the fleet of The Florida Jitney has been mentioned as "Land Yachts." They have also been called "Limo-Liners" and have heard our newest Jitney's referred to as "Private Jets on wheels." But most importantly, we would prefer to be called your "preferred choice in travel."
As long as the Florida Jitney continues to operate with the philosophy of treating its passengers as guests, it will continue its march to statewide dominance. We have already been called "America's most luxurious Shuttle Service." All of us at the Florida Jitney look forward to earning our stripes with YOU!

Guest Reviews
"What a service! We moved to the country for the peace and quiet. We never realized how isolated we'd feel. Now with the Jitney, we can go into the city without the stress and worries of driving. We can invite the kids down to visit and not play chauffeur and meet them at the airport. The Florida Jitney has greatly improved our lives. Thank you!"

"I loathe the wasted hours of driving to Orlando, sitting in traffic. My productivity has skyrocketed. Now I use that time efficiently and can even bill my clients as 'billable hours.' I do research on line, I answer emails, I even have lunch in total comfort. After the first journey was so successful, I bought the Frequent Travelers package and even if I wanted to drive, I couldn't do it for this price. Unbelievable and I love it!"

"We retired from outside Boston to the magnificent "Horse Country" around Ocala. The Grandkids come to see us and we love them. But I'm not ready to hand off the keys to the Lexus to Skippy, our 16 year old. Now he can catch the Jitney to Orlando. He's old enough to go to Sea World for the day with his friends and we don't have to worry about him. The roads here can be dangerous no matter how you look at it and I am glad he is in the care of real professionals.

"My friends and I are students at the University of Florida. When we want to go into Orlando for a little partying, we don't want to worry about drinking and driving. Now we can all have a great time at City Walk or wherever and we know our "designated driver" is always going to be there to take us home. It's the best service for a night on the town!"

"I am the parent of a Junior Gator. This service came along just in time! It saved us thousands in buying our daughter a car. Now she can come home (Orlando) on weekends for a great price. We trust that she is safe with this seasoned crew of veterans. Polite and professional sums it up. I've even taken the Jitney up to campus to visit her mid-week, the frequency is really convenient. Thanks for your service!"

"FINALLY! I can be Green without breaking the bank! I can rideshare and actually save money by doing the right thing. I am so frustrated with paying for obscene gas prices, so my hard earned money can go to fat oil companies and terrorists is the Middle East. If this service was everywhere, just think how closer we'd be to real energy self-sufficiency!"
